        Nicola is an accredited PLD facilitator and registered teacher with over ten years’ experience teaching at secondary school and tertiary level. She has had extensive experience in supporting schools to meet the needs of priority learners, particularly through the implementation of evidence based interventions. Nicola is passionate about ensuring the needs of all students are met in inclusive learning environments. Her recent research focused on the digital assessment transformation and on improving internal assessment practices for students with Special Assessment Conditions.

        After completing a BSc in Psychology and a Graduate Diploma in Teaching, Mike Sleeman taught for over fourteen years in the primary school sector. During that time, he held a number of positions, including senior leadership positions and Head of Mathematics. Whilst teaching, he published a range of mathematics books which are used throughout New Zealand and around the world. In recent years, Mike has completed a Master of Education endorsed in Inclusive and Special Education, as well as a number of additional papers, and plans to pursue his PhD in 2018. He is passionate about educational research and is particularly interested in the development of fluency, which was the focus of his thesis. Mike is also a NZCER Level C assessor and has obtained the SPELD NZ Certificate in Diagnostics.
